Description
Hornyhead Chub – Nocomis biguttatus – to 10.25″ (26.04 cm)
The native range of this species in the wild is primarily north-central to northeast United States. In Wisconsin, they are found most often in clear, shallow water.
In the aquarium, they are very gregarious and curious, as well as active. Topping out at 10.25 inches (26.04 cm) in length, these are one of the larger minnow species found in Wisconsin.
Great community fishes, they are not aggressive and will frequently school with other fishes. Even those much smaller than they are. They can be kept in groups ranging from all males to all females, and any combination in between! They can also be kept peacefully with just about any other fish in the aquarium, including other darters, small catfish, minnows and many, many tropical and cool-water aquarium fishes!
